More Values Count: an update

It’s over a year since “Values Count” was published. In that time, I have had the experience of sitting with a few of the readers telling me what they found useful in the book. One of them had written all over the book (thanks Jayne!) and apologised for the mess she had made of it. I was so excited that she had found the contents useful enough to annotate them in that way!

Meeting people who have read something that you have written never feels easy. It probably says a lot about me, that on one level I love the fact that someone has shown an interest in my ideas, but am also a bit unsure as to how things will settle. I’ve read other authors describing the awful feeling that can come after publication – when there is nothing more that you can do but wait for the reaction.

I’m pleased to say that “Values Count” continues to sell – slow and steady. (You can buy a copy here or at Amazon here).

Overall I am really pleased at the number of people who have found something really practical in the book. Some have said that they will try the exercises. Many have said that they liked the mixture of personal experience with building a values based approach, and case studies of other settings where values based approaches are used.

I’m in the middle of writing the next book at the moment – “Insight Coaching”. I’ve described it to a few people and they are reacting really well to the ideas that I am sharing. Once that book is written, I am wondering whether to produce a second edition of the values book as inevitably ideas continue to develop as I continue to read, research and share ideas on the topic of values base working.

If you have read the book and have any thoughts do get in touch. Even if you haven’t read the book and values based working is a topic of interest I would love to talk to you.
