Come Inside: An Adventure in the Making

Towards the end of 2025, I ran the second and third Come Inside sessions — small online gatherings in the Chief Explorer’s Library, exploring the practice of Active Imagination and the inner characters who shape us.

This is early work. Experimental. An adventure.

The model is simple: teach, play, create.

Each session begins with something I’m exploring — a concept, a practice, an emerging idea. Then we play with it together. And finally, we create — each of us making something of our own from what’s emerged.

In these two sessions, I shared my own inner cast of seven characters — figures who have been with me for over four decades, first appearing in poetry, then in tape-recorded dialogues during my PhD, and now in AI-augmented conversations. If you’ve read The Inner Fire, you’ll have met some of them already — Blue, Peter, Alice, and the others — set within the context of Alchemy and the Four Elements. And alice reimagined goes deeper into the journey with my anima figure, the character who has perhaps taught me the most.

Participants then met their own emerging characters, gave them names, voices, places to inhabit.

This is also deeply connected to the coaching work I do. In my Fellow Explorer programme, we often find ourselves working with these inner figures — the voices that guide us, challenge us, hold us back, or urge us forward. Come Inside is a way of introducing this territory in a group setting, playfully and safely, before the deeper one-to-one work begins.

What I’m discovering is that this work is deeply alchemical. Something happens when we gather in a space of trust and curiosity — when we set out the ingredients on the table and allow the process of transformation to begin.

A close space, not a closed one

Come Inside is not a public event. But nor is it exclusive.

It’s a close space — intimate, exploratory, built on connection and community. A place where we can step away from being “on show” and work privately together. Where every voice matters, and every story is valued.

I’m building this carefully. Growing it organically from genuine connection rather than scaling it up.

What’s emerging

There’s more taking shape behind the scenes — new connections I’m exploring between the inner cast and other frameworks, and an Archetypal Card Deck that’s proving to be a delightfully ambitious project. More on those as they develop.

For now, I’m committed to keeping this space experimental. Small. Curious. A place where ideas can be tested, refined, and shared.
