Inner Reflection
Without reflection, we are destined to keep making the same mistakes over and over again. Failing once is not failure, it is a process of learning. Each attempt teaches us something, that helps us to get to the end goal of achievement.
Inner reflection – the steps we take to work out what is going on, the answers to the simple three questions – what went well, what could have gone better, and what have I learnt? These are the steps we need to take to build a reflective practice.
Reflection in Water
The photo is one of many I have taken from the bridge which we walk across to get to our home. The view is of the Liverpool city skyline from the system of docks that runs along the river side. Every time I take this view it looks different. The light changes, the reflection in the water is slightly different, the shades and shadows are set differently. Each time I am filled with the wonder of that which is around us. Awake to the wonder of the now.
Reflecting on these photos, collecting them as time passes, gives me an understanding of the impermanence of things, of all things. Nothing is constant or permanent. Everything is in a constant state of change. Each moment that we capture is only that moment, never to be repeated.
And the awe of that is the striking nature of the newness of everything.
